Methodology for collecting and collating information

The process of creating comprehensive data dashboards involves a meticulous methodology, ensuring accuracy and reliability. This methodology unfolds through several stages:

  1. Defining Fundamental Content and Categories

The initial step entails categorizing essential content and establishing categories that encapsulate the diverse aspects under consideration. These categories lay the groundwork for assembling comprehensive data dashboards.

  1. Hierarchical Subcategories and Indicator Identification

Subcategories within each category are delineated to encapsulate nuanced aspects. For each subcategory, specific indicators are identified. These indicators function as signposts, illuminating various facets within the subcategories.

  1. Indicator Validation and Source Identification

The chosen indicators undergo validation to ensure their appropriateness and relevance. Following validation, a meticulous process of sourcing commences, where primary data sources are preferred. Official sources are selected for tabular, alphanumeric, and geographic data. These sources are essential to maintaining the accuracy and credibility of the information.

4. Data Extraction and Compilation

The crux of the process is the extraction and compilation of information from the identified sources. This involves extracting tabular and alphanumeric data from official publications or websites, often in Excel format. Geographic information, processed through tools like ArcGIS Pro, is leveraged to maintain the integrity of spatial data.

  1. Geographic Representation

Geographic data is represented at two levels: Biosphere Reserve and official administrative boundaries (e.g., municipalities). Numerical data capable of statistical analysis is summarized and processed at the Biosphere Reserve level. For other data types, like rates and percentages, geographic representation occurs at the official administrative boundaries.
