UNESCO BIOSPHERE RESERVES

Territories committed to the valorisation and conservation of ecosystems

Biosphere Reserves are territories committed to sustainability, value the conservation of landscapes and ecosystems for social, economic, cultural and ecological development, and act as platforms for research, monitoring, education and awareness raising.

They represent a unique and relevant model in the global panorama of strategies for the protection, management and use of natural resources and biodiversity.

The conservation of natural values is now inseparable from the human presence and the sustainable development and economic prosperity of populations, principles that govern the classification and recognition of these reserves.
