Sounds for Sustainability – Climate Folk – Dance of the Carbon Cycles

An interdisciplinary gathering aimed at exploring the role of sound, music, dance, and acoustics in environmental awareness, conservation, and climate action

This event, which will take place on June 6th and 7th, 2025, in Ireland, is part of a larger initiative within SHiFT and will include diverse contributions, including scientific research, artistic performances, case studies, and participatory workshops.


The event will combine:


Climate Folk – Dance of the Carbon Cycles (Participatory Session)


The Dance of the Carbon Cycles is an immersive, interactive experience where participants will engage in a collaborative performance that interprets climate processes through movement, sound, and storytelling.



  • This activity is designed and led by Irish based scientists, musicians and traditional dancers.

  • It will allow participants to experience and express the carbon cycle, biodiversity, and sustainability challenges in innovative and interactive ways.

  • The activity integrates scientific knowledge, artistic expression, and embodied learning, making it a powerful tool for education and engagement.
