UNESCO's Contribution to the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity – COP16
Under the theme “Peace with Nature,” the conference brings together over one hundred ministers and heads of state and is the first to take place since the adoption of the ambitious and historic Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (COP15). Leaders at the event will assess the progress made in implementing this framework, which established the commitment to halt biodiversity loss by 2030.
UNESCO has released its contributions to the conference, covering several critical areas: from promoting sustainable ecosystem management and fostering scientific collaboration to advancing capacity building and empowering local communities, highlighting Biosphere Reserves as a key example.
