The ceremony will gather dignitaries from the Portuguese, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Liechtenstein Governments, as well as some of the most relevant specialists and experts, who will share their vision on the impacts and importance of the EEA Grants in Portugal. This event will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the current Financial Mechanism and discuss the upcoming challenges for the future Mechanism 2021-2028.
The “Biosphere Reserves” project is included in the event’s program. Professor Maria Fernanda Rollo will present it during the panel “How the EEA Grants have impacted beneficiaries”.

The project “Biosphere Reserves. Sustainable Territories, Resilient Communities” aims to enhance the Portuguese Biosphere Reserves by promoting the territories and communities within them, highlighting their heritage assets and associated ecosystem services. It also focuses on strengthening skills and improving the governance model of these regions. Launched in November 2020, it was funded by the EEA Grants 2014-2021 under the “Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy” Program, and promoted by the General Secretariat for Environment and Climate Action.
